could it be magic?

I resisted getting a Moleskine for quite a while. I've never wanted to be a member of a Moleskine club - in fact quite the opposite. When I did get one I really wanted to dislike it. I'm sure you know what's coming next...yep, I love it! I love this Moleskine. More than that I'm really enjoying the work I've been doing in it. What is it about these books? Why do people fall for them in such a big way? I don't know. I just know that it really pushes my button. Sorry.

I am a lonely painter...

I'm not well. I'm feeling very sorry for myself. Two viruses in a few weeks. My nose feels like I've had two red hot pokers poked up it. My throat feels like I'm swallowing razor blades which, incidentally, I've seen somebody do. It was on a street in Barcelona. It was impressive and yet disturbing.

So, I have not done any drawing this week. I pulled this one out of the archives. I created this little fella some years ago. It's not my favourite, but I like the overall composition and colour.

By the way, that was the guy's act - swallowing razor blades. It wasn't some terrible cry for help!

tags, labels and things on strings

I could have gone on and on and on with this one. I knew it was time to stop when I was considering adding a tampon to the drawing.

good day/bad drawing

I wasn't going to post this but I was kinda persuaded to. I was very happy with the line drawing, then I went and butchered it with some terrible coloured pencil work.

moleskine virgin

So my first page of my brand new first Moleskine. I usually get quite nervous when I begin a new sketchbook. I always want to produce the 'perfect' opening drawing. Well this time I've decided to take a different approach and dive right in.

At first I wasn't too sure about the colour of the paper. Normally I like to use a clean crisp white background for my drawings. However, recently I began my love affair with this sepia pen. Now I'm thinking that this ink combined with the cream paper, of the Moleskine, is a marriage made in heaven.

A question for those of you who use Pitt pens in their Moleskine sketchbooks; do you use both sides of the paper?

EDM#89 draw a button

Can't remember where I got this little button, I've had it for years. I now know why I kept it. I drew this yesterday. Two cool things happened yesterday. Firstly I found a whole range of Moleskines in one of my local gift shops. Of course, I had to buy one. Just so I know what all the fuss is about.
Secondly Wales beat England in the rugby. I can't tell you how exciting that is. OK so we lost the whole of the Six Nations tournament - we came last! But that doesn't matter because we beat England. Everything is good.

mind your beeswax

Are you allowed to do this? I'm not sure, but I seem to have inadvertently designed new logos for Burt's Bees. I was just drawing my lip balm when I took some creative license and added my own illustration to the tin. I like the results. I hope Burt doesn't mind!

I could have sworn that this was a British company. The design, to me, looks very British. Perhaps because they're so whimsical. However, Burt's Bees are actually from North Carolina. Seems like a lot of cool people live in North Carolina.

Another one of those things I have found since beginning this blog is that I really like drawing bees. Hmmmm, shame I don't have an old friend who was thinking of writing a book on honey (how is that going Greenbean?!).

zip it

Zip from my bag. Ok this will be the last drawing in this pen - for a little while anyway. This blog needs a bit more colour. I haven't been feeling too good this week hence the lack of posts. I just feel like curling up on the settee with a Lemsip, a hot water bottle and a cat. Oh. Hot water bottle in this pen. Now that sounds good to me...

EDM#34 draw a fall leaf

I love the word autumn. In fact autumn is one of my favourite words. It's definitely my favourite season. And, the oak leaf, yep, it's my favourite leaf.

a different point of view

Same tin different style. Not great. I just wanted to give this subject one more go. In my favourite pen. Oh well, got that out of my system.

EDM #7 draw a tin, bottle or jar from the kitchen

I got this tin from a trip to the Colman's Mustard shop in Norwich. Yep, I really know how to have a good time. I live life on the edge.

WARNING: Ladies never try to apply make-up whilst on the bus. That's what the lady with the baby did. And look what happened to her. Poor cow.

a little Welsh purse

Damn, yesterday I was going to do some kind of Welsh related post/drawing as it was St. David's day (he's the patron saint of Wales, by the way) but I forgot. On St. Davids day in Wales we used to dress like THIS to go to school. No seriously, we did. Anyway, I did draw this whilst listening to a documentary about Owain Glyndwr, the last Welshman to hold the title Prince of Wales. Does that count?

A little tip here. If you should ever be thinking of buying a silver pencil; don't bother. There's no point (sorry), a waste of money. Just use graphite.

the answer is...

In answer to the question from the last post; this guy would live in a house like that!
